Making free calls from your Cell Phones
We make calls to our friends all over the world but the time we talk is really affected by the call rates. What if we can talk to our known ones anywhere in the world for free? Yes completely free and that to by using your cellphone.
Until recently, carriers have made it hard to load anything onto your phone. But since Apple created its app store, other companies have been compelled to follow suit. One such application is the free-calling applications like Fring or Skype (or internet telephony applications) that can be loaded on to your cell phone.
Here is how it works: You need a Wi-Fi device because the call will be carried over internet, not through the carrier’s pipes. (Skype does offer a version that works with a smartphone’s cellular-data connection.) Once the application is loaded into the phone and started, the software typically displays its own keypad. As long as you are in a Wi-Fi hot spot, you can make free calls directly to other members of the particular service, for example Skype-to-Skype. Or you can call landlines through Skype at cheap rates once you have a prepaid account.
Skype and Fring users are assigned ID numbers or names, and used for dialing, the call go over the service’s Internet servers though it may be partly routed over phone lines.
Through Fring you can also log on to your gmail account and make a call as you do using gtalk, in this way you can call a person on mobile or even on his pc.

Call Free from Your Cell Phone
There are a few caveats. Personal computer users can download the Skype mobile software to a computer, sync their handset with the machine and transfer the application to the phone. Mac users have to use their phone’s browser to go to Skype’s download site.
For those without a Windows Mobile phone, Skype recently introduced latest version of Skype Lite, which runs on phones with Symbian software on the Java platform. On Skype.com, these users can type in their mobile numbers and Skype will send a message to the phone with a link to download the software. It also runs on the Android Google phone. On this, you need only visit Android’s app store, click on the Skype application, which is free, and a few seconds later you are ready.
The company is also working on an iPhone app, but in the meantime, Skype users who have iPhones have another free internet calling option: Fring. In addition to letting you call other Fring member free, the service also connects you to Skype, enabling use of Skype to call landlines or mobile phones. A US-Japan Skype call costs about two cents a minute. If one cannot afford iPhone to make use of VOIP, not to worry. You can also download Fring to the latest versions of the iPod Touch, turning your iPod into a poor man’s iPhone.

I prefer to go for Sybian S60 devices because they support lot of applications. I am traveling most of the time so my preference is to use VoIP applications; Nimbuzz, Sype and Nimbuzz is essential in my case because it’s hard to pay high bills in roaming.
